Really wanted to revisit my previous release of **Dennou Coil** and give it a bit of an uplift. I just didn't anticipate the amount of work needed for it. I was around 2/3 done, when I accidentally discovered [MTBB]'s release on Nyaa. To my surprise, it featured an updated translation, totally different styling, and brand new signs/banners. After some analysis and various comparisons, I've decided to create multiple subtitles (more about this in a bit). Fast forward to now, after working on this project for over a year, it's finally done. + Note that the video track is quite large due to digital noise added deliberately by the creators. It's part of the anime's identity. + The retail Japanese BluRays had two Japanese audio tracks: a **5.1 channel DTS-HD MA** track (default) and a **PCM in stereo**. After analysing the DTS-HD track in a few episodes, it's more like a 3.0 track instead of full 5.1 (the rear and sub tracks are rarely used, but still used). I've decided to include both tracks in the release (but converted the stereo PCM to FLAC). If you don't have the proper audio setup for the DTS-HD MA track or if it sounds too silent, just switch to the stereo FLAC track. + Now, let's talk about the **subtitles**. I originally intended to release this with two subtitle tracks (one English and one Hungarian), but after discovering MTBB's release, I ended up with **six**. Some observations: + Regarding the **English translation**, my subs were based on Ureshii, and MTBB states that their translation is based on Ureshii and R4. The Ureshii translation feels more literal, but as a consequence, it sometimes feels off/convoluted. It's also not afraid to use Japanese terms, and use translation notes to explain stuff. On the other hand, MTBB based their translation on Ureshii, but changed lots of lines to feel more natural. But as a consequence, it has quite a few simplifications, and the original meaning is sometimes lost or changed. They also decided to get rid of all translation notes at the top of the screen, and try to rephrase the sentence instead. This sometimes worked, sometimes not so much. Both Ureshii's and MTBB's release had some errors. MTBB released their sub in two flavours: one with honorifics and one without. MTBB's subs also have no romaji and no kanji for the OP/ED songs. + Regarding **signs/banners**, although I would consider mine to be quite decent as well, MTBB really did something remarkable here, as the quality of their signs/banners is excellent - but many signs were left out. This anime has lots of signs, and it's evident that both me and MTBB had different ideas which signs/banners to include. None of us included absolutely everything, but I believe that I added a lot more - including that crazy chat with the Bearded Ones in the famous 12th episode, creating the signs for that episode alone took me a month. + After this comparison, it was clear that MTBB's translation is improved in many areas, but Ureshii's original translation is still relevant, and might be the preferred choice to some. So I decided to branch out and use a hybrid approach, and ended up with 5 English subtitles: + **English (honorifics) (hybrid DEXA-MTBB-Ureshii)** = translation based on MTBB, but with DEXA styling, typesetting and signs/banners (so it should have a lot more). Has honorifics and uses Eastern name order. I tried to fix the issues I've found. I also decided to reintroduce some (not all) of the translation notes from the Ureshii version to give it better context. Added romaji and kanji to all songs. Finally, I also changed a few lines to get rid of some Americanisms or potentially confusing abbreviations. + **English (no honorifics) (hybrid DEXA-MTBB-Ureshii)** = same as above, but without honorifics. + **English (no honorifics) (hybrid DEXA-Ureshii) [v2]** = basically a v2 version of the original English subtitle from my previous v1 release of Dennou Coil from 2018. Based on the Ureshii translation. Looks pretty much the same as the hybrid DEXA-MTBB-Ureshii subtitle explained above (as it has the same styling, typesetting and signs/banners), but it uses the original Ureshii translation for dialogue, signs and OP/ED. Has no honorifics, and it uses Western name order. + **English (honorifics) (original MTBB)** = MTBB's original subtitle (honorifics version). Nothing changed, except changing the location of the OP English lyrics to avoid a collision with the hard-coded kanji. It uses Eastern name order. + **English (no honorifics) (original MTBB)** = MTBB's original subtitle, same as above, but it's the no-honorifics version. + **Creditless OP and ED** also included with **3 subtitles**: 2x English and 1x Hungarian. There are two English subtitles, because Ureshii and MTBB used different English translations. + Tested on my usual **Windows 11** setup, and on the **Nvidia Shield Pro** (2019 edition) using **Kodi**. Playback on PC should be fine, as long as it's relatively up-to-date, both in terms of hardware and software (otherwise the subtitles might look weird). Also works fine on the Shield Pro using Kodi, but some of the crazy signs found in the original MTBB subtitles could cause some brief stuttering/jerkiness due to their complexity. + I spent over a year on this project, and sacrificed most of my free time on it. I got quite a few plates spinning at once, dealing with 6 subtitles for each episode, dozens of fonts, etc. I won't pretend that this release is error-free, and it's not a perfect release, but it was made with lots of love, so please enjoy! De amikor úgy döntöttem, hogy egy DEXA v2 verziót szeretnék készíteni, láttam, hogy a magyar feliratra is ráfér egy jó nagy frissítés: nem csak a fordításra, hanem a jelekre is. Sok időt kellett rászentelni, de végül elkészült a harmadik verzió (v3). Ez a verzió rengeteg változtatást tartalmaz, köztük más kifejezéseket is. Például a "kiskapu-csomópont" kifejezés (amely eredetileg az [Ureshii] angol fordításából lett átvéve, amely, mint később kiderült, nagyon eltért az eredeti jelentéstől), most át lett nevezve "Köztes Kereszteződésre", mert az sokkal közelebb áll az eredeti japán "Hazama Kousaten" kifejezéshez. Sok új fordítói megjegyzés is hozzá lett adva, segítve azokat a nézőket, akik még nem ismerik az animéket és japán szokásokat/kultúrát. Sok észlelt hiba, vagy elírás is javítva lett. Remélem, hogy ez a kiadás minden tekintetben előrehaladás a korábbi verzióhoz képest, de még így is megeshet, hogy maradtak benne hibák, így az esetleges hibákért előre is elnézést kérek.
